Why I Chose Internet Marketing

The road to Internet Marketing

The road to Internet Marketing winds upward.

For years I have considered the Internet a place to go and play when I have some free time. I have used it for research, online shopping, games, general information and fun. It never occurred to me to have the Internet work for me.

After the housing bubble burst and the market crashed, I realized I would have to look for another source of income. Not wanting to bag groceries, I decided to investigate income sources that could be worked from home. I did not want to have parties and lug 200 pounds of inventory around in my car. That eliminated Monavie, Mary Kaye and Avon. I thought about Usana Vitamins and cosmetics. They don’t weigh much and I could get a discount on something I already take. The returns did not outweigh the things I didn’t like. I also had no real feeling for the products. I needed a passion and some entrepreneurial ideas.

The journey had begun; I had a little direction a lot of motivation and absolutely no idea where the road would take me. I put on my walking shoes and started off.

What would my criteria be? First, I needed something greater than myself as my ultimate goal. Since my two very deep passions are my children and my dogs, my mission became clearer. I would like to leave a legacy to my children and to all homeless pets. I decided to start with a goal of paying of the kids mortgages and creating a foundation to benefit homeless pets. Every day I read about rescues of animals and the trouble finding a place to keep them. I would like to make that a little easier. My children have seen less income and upside down mortgages. They work hard and act responsibly. This is not fair for them. I would like to help.

Identifying my why was a big step. It put the light at the end of my tunnel. I still had to determine my what and how. I went to Google where my search for working at home took me to a commentary on direct selling at the Direct Selling Association. They have some very good advice on what and what not to do or buy into. I still had not found the spark that would light a fire under me. However, I knew the process had taken hold of me and I would not stop until I did find my piece of gold in the coal pile.

I had also discovered Social Media as part of my journey. I was on my Facebook page one day and there was an ad directed at those Monavie affiliates who were looking for something better. I clicked on it and began to learn about internet marketing. I opted in from the landing page and was off and running. I would like to say that the rest is history, but I was a very hard sell. I don’t know why they didn’t tell me to go away. I whined about entrapment. I whined about the initiation fee to qualify for the big commissions, although, all the while I was fixated on the potential for large commissions and at least 5 figure incomes. I could see the mortgages shrinking and the foundation growing, but I wasn’t sold. It took a lot of answering my questions and waffling before I signed in At the highest level. By the time I committed, I knew I had made the right decision.

As I began to put my marketing plan in place, I realized I had only committed to begin. Now I needed to commit to Action. That was a no brainer. I was in for the long haul and enjoying the journey and soaking up all the new information. Every bit of life experience you bring to Internet Marketing can be helpful, draw parallels and use it.

Since lifelong learning is another of my passions, I get to do something for me too. I get to learn more new skills than I would have thought possible while fulfilling my dreams for my children and the animals. This is where I am meant to be and what I am meant to be doing. I am with a wonderful company that I currently can’t find on Google by googling “Internet marketing”. If it had not been for that isolated ad on my face book page I might still be looking and not be part of a wonderful and very diverse team. The best part is, the journey has just begun.

Great article Sallie... Yes. You did put obstacles up in getting started, but nothing wrong with a bit of healthy skepticism. Main point is you saw the potential and got started in the best position. Great job.
